The tree of this species naturally reaches colossal dimensions (up to 40 meters), but its pot cultivation is very common, through which excellent results are obtained.
This plant is endowed with innumerable qualities: it requires little maintenance, it is resistant to drought, it is hardly attacked by pests and it can live indoors. Also from the aesthetic point of view it has unique characteristics: in a few years it is able to reach a centennial appearance and its two-lobed leaves take on a golden color in autumn, which is not found in any other specimen.
TREATMENT: This species of bonsai loves the sun: you can leave the Ginkgo out all year round. However, if the specimen is very young, it is better to prefer a location that partially protects it from direct rays in the warmer seasons. Another precaution to pay attention to is to repair it when the first winter frosts occur.
Ginkgo needs frequent watering during the growing season, while in winter it will be advisable to decrease the administration of water. A clue to understand the state of the bonsai is given by the state of the leaves: if they hang flabby, it means that the plant is suffering from dehydration, so it will be appropriate to intervene by watering abundantly.
